How it all started a story shared by her lovely mother
Catherine Sone trials and tribulations. She was high functioning in my eyes. Tested low by the experts. We were best friends. We shopped together. She was awesome, A delight, We went out to eat together, cleaned house together. I am just crushed. She died August 20th, 2021.
The past 2 years I kept noticing small things. Throw her purse out of anger. She slowly started being a different person. I wrote messages to her doctor.
We tried all kinds of Psychiatric medications without success. My best way to control her horrific behavior was to give her what I called a VAN. A VICODIN FOR het significant back pain. An Ativan to calm her. A Neurontin to help the nerve pain.
I could leave the house with her if she had these three meds to help control her horrible behavior.

She had always been the sweetest girl in the world. Kind, loving, giving, adorable. In February I stopped working . I rarely took her out of the house. Her behavior was uncontrollable.
We were in a nightmare we couldn’t wake up from. She had fallen accidentally in a ditch and hurt her back.
This was early on before the craziness started. Her MRI showed horrible things. Herniated disc’s, a huge arachnoid cyst pushing on her spinal nerves. I sought opinions from 2 Well known Neurosurgeons.
The cyst was not pushing on her spinal cord, so no surgery. I was so appalled. The one doctor fused some vertebrae that were funky, and she had better posture of standing straight after this surgery.
Every once in a while she would out of the blue, say, “I can’t see” we were clueless. She deteriorated rapidly after this.
She literally lost her abilities. We were so clueless. Behavior problems, She could no longer bead and make her necklaces with crosses on them.

She would throw everything. My lovely husband, Steve, was part of this nightmare, but he worked, and was able to get away every day away from the nightmare of craziness. She also loved to do puzzles. She could no longer do this.
I was in a nightmare I couldn’t wake up from. She would in frustration throw her supplies across the room. I tried Haldol shots, any Psychiatric med you can think of . I took her to a Psychiatrist who 2 years before had said Katie was getting EARLY ONSET DEMENTIA.
She also saw regularly , an Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She was ordering meds, trying counseling. Trying desperately to help us. Our family doctor was open to trying anything, to get our Katie back. But she was lost to us. Seriously. Her brain just stopped functioning.
Early Onset Dementia. One problem you face as parents of a handicapped person, many doctors treated her like she was disposable. Not worthy of their time. Not a real person because she was handicapped.
This is Catherine Sone Story, So Sad wonder why the doctors will give up on a innocent girl.
